USDIX drops ahead of US housing data

The U.S. Dollar Index (USDIX) fell following a three-day advance on Friday ahead of a government report that may show U.S. new home sales rose to a six-year high in September.

As of 12:17 pm GMT, the USIDX  which tracks the performance of the greenback against a six-currency basket - dropped to 85.83 compared to the opening level of 85.93. 

Investors are closely watching the release of the U.S. new home sales data for September, due to ne released at 02:00 pm GMT. The consensus forecast calls for a 6.3% decline to 473 thousand units compared with an 18% rise to 504 thousand units in August.
