Britain's economy slows in Q3

(MENAFN) Official data showed that growth in the British economy slowed in the July-September period of 2014 over the same quarter of last year, Arab News reported.

According to the Office of National Statistics, gross domestic product (GDP) expanded by 0.7 percent in the third-quarter period from output in the previous three months.

On a quarterly basis, the country's economy grew by 0.9 percent in the April-June period of 2014 and expanded by 0.7 percent in the January-March period of the same year.

"Today's strong growth figures show that the UK continues to lead the pack in an increasingly uncertain global economy," Britain's finance minister said in a statement.
