China's auto market to dip to 7 percent in 2014

(MENAFN) According to the head of the Chinese industrial body, growth in the country's auto market is set to halve to 7 percent in 2014, dragged down by a slowing economy, Oman Observer reported.

During the January-September period of the year, overall vehicle sales in China rose 7 percent from the same period a year earlier, this compares to a growth of 13.9 percent registered last year.

"Personally, I think growth this year can reach 7 percent," Secretary General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said in a statement issued at an industry conference.

China's annual economic growth slowed to 7.3 percent in the third quarter, the weakest pace since the depths of the global financial crisis, and down from 7.5 percent in the prior quarter.
