(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) In the first incident the man sneaked into the flat of a Palestinian man while in the second he allegedly molested a woman as she slept.
Dubai: A 40-year-old Saudi tourist stood trial on Thursday in the Court of First Instance on charges of trespassing into others’ property and molestation.
According to prosecution records the accused sneaked into two flats in the same building in a Jumeirah area on the night of July 30.
In the first incident he sneaked into the flat of a Palestinian man while in the second he allegedly molested a woman as she slept. He was drunk and is believed to have entered through the back door which was left open.
He faced charges including molestation consuming alcohol without a license trespassing and attempted theft.
The woman said she was sleeping when she felt someone kissing her on her cheek.
“I opened my eyes to see a man walking to a corner in the bedroom where he smoked a cigarette. I felt so scared and I woke up my husband” the Emirati woman 26 said in the investigation.
The husband 27 told the prosecutor that his wife was in a state of shock because of the presence of an intruder in their room.
“He smelled of alcohol. I caught him took him to the security guard’s office and waited there for the police.”
The husband added that the police found his wallet in the defendant’s possession at the police station.
A police corporal said that shortly before this incident was reported they got a similar complaint from a tenant in the same building.
“A Palestinian man complained about a stranger in a drunken state who sneaked into his flat. He threw him out”.
Security guards went searching for the intruder to no avail.
However the Dubai police learnt of another intrusion at night into another flat in the same building later.
“As we took the accused into police custody he looked drunk. He threw cash at the police patrol car. We knew later that the money belonged to the complainant as his wallet was found with the accused” the corporal said.
The defendant admitted in the interrogation that he had consumed alcohol prior to the incident.
