Three men detained in Belgium for suspected links with ISIL


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Belgian police searched six houses in the towns of Vilvoorde and Machelen on Wednesday and detained of three men in their twenties.

According to Belgian media reports Thursday, they are suspected of having helped youngsters in Belgium to travel to Syria to join ISIL.

A fourth suspect has been identified but he is currently in Syria and an international warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The three men aged 21, 22 and 26 are also accused of having fought with the ISIL in Syria.

Observers here note that the new centre-right government which came to power in Belgium recently has stepped up its campaign against terrorism and illegal immigration.

Earlier this week, the mayor of Vilvoorde which lies outside Brussels closed a Sikh temple for one month for alleged links with illegal immigrants from India.
