Milipol Qatar ends with five more deals


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) With five more deals worth QR121.3m yesterday, the total agreements signed by the Ministry of Interior at Milipol Qatar 2014 reached QR309m, officials said yesterday.

The three-day event attracted 261 companies from 36 countries to showcase latest equipment for internal state security.

Brig. Saud Rashid Al Shafi, Director, Procurement Department, the General Directorate of Logistics at the ministry, and member of the Milipol Qatar Committee, said a contract worth QR43.5m was signed with Abdullah Abdul Ghani & Bros for 343 vehicles for security departments.

Another deal was signed with Gulf Business Machines for developing the ministry's infrastructure and related projects for QR38.5m. A contract worth QR2.5m was signed with Al Mannai Trading Company for 17 vehicles and another worth QR33m with Al Fahad Trading and Contracting for 15 vehicles and firefighting and rescue equipment for Civil Defence.

Another contract worth QR3.8m was with Eshhar Security Services for 11 traffic radars and 10 truck weighbridges.

The committee also honoured sponsors and supporting companies at St. Regis Hotel, attended by members of the panel and representatives of the companies.

Telco International also attended the expo, displaying latest systems for catching motorists violating speed limits and jumping the red light. In 1996, Telco showcased its traffic radar. The thrust this year was on speed and red light enforcement systems from Jenoptik in Germany, Telco's partner for over 24 years.

Telco displayed speed radars for highways, traffic signals, police car tripod and others, according to an official. "Telco also showcased an end-to-end solution for vehicle plate numbers/licence plates, including embossing machines and actual plate numbers with security features," he said.

3M Personal Safety Division showcased its military solutions like Comtac XP, an electronic level dependent headset and Lite-Com, a built-in two-way communication headset, a 3M Peltor communication equipment, a dual earphone system for talking through, external radio signals and other hearing, face and head protection products, according to Martin Parsons, Country Manager for Qatar and Kuwait.
