Amazon in book retail deal with Simon & Schuster

(MENAFN) Amazon has reached a deal with American book publisher Simon & Schuster, though the e-commerce giant hasn't settled its dispute with France's Hachette over e-book pricing yet, AFP reported.

The deal with Simon & Schuster, expected to put into effect in early January, allows print and electronic editions from the American publisher to be marketed and retailed by Amazon.

The books will be continuously available for sale at this major retailer through this year's holiday book buying season and well beyond, as Simon & Schuster will retain most control over the retail prices of its books.

"We are very happy with this agreement as it is economically advantageous for both Simon & Schuster and its authors," Simon & Schuster CEO said, with Amazon expressing its happiness of the deal too.
