Kuwait hails Senegal's stand on nuclear non-proliferation treaty


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait Ambassador to Senegal Mohammad Khalaf praised on Tuesday Senegal's vote in favor of a resolution urging Israel to join the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT).

The ambassador remarks made during a meeting with Senegal Prime Minister Mohammad bin Abdullah Dionne where he expressed gratitude on behalf of Kuwait for voting in favor of the resolution.

Last month, Ambassador Khalaf delivered a letter to Senegal Foreign Minister Mankeur Ndiaye from First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, regarding Israel's nuclear capabilities and refusal to join NPT.

Kuwait Embassy said in a statement received by KUNA that the ambassador also extended congratulations on the re-election of Senegal as the president of a committee on practices to the Palestinian people to achieve its rights, which was formed by a UN resolution General Assembly in 1975.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed preparation for hosting the International Organization of la Francophonie in Dakar next November.

Senegal premier also renewed his invitation for His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to visit Senegal.
