Infra Oman exhibition opens focus on GCC rail network


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman's international trade event for infrastructure and industrial projects Infra Oman 2014 began at the Oman International Exhibition Centre Seeb on Monday. One of the main focus areas of this year's exhibition will be the upcoming GCC rail network which will link the six Gulf states.

More than 200 local and international exhibitors from countries like Australia Austria France Germany India Iran Italy Lebanon Malaysia Romania Singapore South Korea Spain Turkey UAE and the UK are participating in the three-day event.

Inaugurated by Eng Mohsin bin Mohammed al Shaikh chairman of Muscat Municipality the fourth edition of the event is a platform for companies in the sultanate to network with key decision makers and strengthen their presence in the construction market.

'Infra Oman is the ideal platform for all contractors and developers to meet as it gives them an opportunity to present their projects and achievements and source their requirements.

'Infra Oman has grown significantly since its debut in 2011 thus establishing itself as the Middle East's leading infrastructure and industrial projects exhibition' said Salim Omar al Hashmi chairman Al Nimr Expo.

The exhibition mainly focusses on construction requirements green and future buildings heavy equipment and technologies hotel and tourism projects industrial free zones industrial manufacturing power and water technologies renewable energy and environment tools and equipment transportation and logistics infrastructure projects – roads airports railways and ports – build and supply and other development projects.

A seminar for construction companies on how to use integrated software applications to control their costs on contracts and provide accurate cost management information was also organized by RedSky IT on Monday.

Meanwhile Jenitha Martin project director Infra Oman said 'The event is also meant to provide local and international companies the opportunity to introduce a range of products equipment technologies concepts and services in front of their target clients which mainly includes decision makers and top officials of companies from Oman's building and construction industry.'

A special highlight this year is the UK pavilion which features more than 40 companies from the industry.

Infra Oman will also include country pavilions from Germany Iran Italy Korea Spain and Turkey.<
