France condemns suicide bombing in Iraqi capital


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) France strongly condemned on Monday the suicide bombing in Baghdad last night which killed 18 people, while describing the formation of Iraqi government as a critical step toward confronting the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

France condemns the bombings in recent days in the Iraqi capital, including the targeting of a Shiite mosque last night which resulted in killing 18 people, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Romain Nadal said press conference.

Nadal offered condolences to victims' families, reiterating France's support to Iraq and its fight against terrorism in this critical time.

Meanwhile, the French spokesman congratulated the Iraqi Prime Minister on appointing a new Interior and Defence ministers completing the formation of government.

The spokesman quoted French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius as he was praising Iraqi government formation, describing it as a critical step to ensure unity and quality in their fight against ISIL.

Last night, at least 18 Iraqis were killed and another 28 injured as a suicide bomber attacked a Shiite house of religious mourning in a neighborhood in western Baghdad.
