Algeria won't reopen borders with unstable countries - Premier

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Algeria's Prime Minister Abdulmalek Sallal said Monday that his country will not reopen its borders with neighboring countries unless they restore security and stability.

Algeria is in desperate need to reopen its border, Sallal said in a press statement during his visit to the border Bordj Badji Mokhtar area in Adrar province, but his government will not reopen borders with a number of conflict-stricken countries before security and stability are restored in these countries.

He also affirmed that the Algerian army does not, as a principle, intervene in other countries' internal affairs, indicating that the Algerian diplomacy plays a positive role in Mali and Libya.

The Algerian Premier also called on residents of border towns, near Mali, to contribute to security and safety of the borders, adding that Algeria is protected by its people.
