Seasons one and two of the show delivering brain-boggling facts and information was extremely well received – now National Geographic Abu Dhabi brings you 10 brand new fascinating episodes of Brain Games season three. From languages to superstition addictions to stress host Jason Silva takes you on an entertaining and revealing journey of discovery.

The programme brings you interactive games and experiments to mess with your mind and reveal the inner workings of your brain. We speak to filmmaker futurist TED Talk alumnus and TV host Jason Silva to find out more.

What is your favourite Brain Games episode and why

There are so many it’s hard to decide. I quite enjoyed the ‘fear’ episode as it allows you to truly delve deep into how fear works. It explains so much about anxiety as a product of an overactive amygdala.

Your CV lists a lot of achievements. How did you get into filmmaking Would you say it was through embracing modern media Do you have any advice for aspiring filmmakers/ TV personalities in today’s media environment

Although I worked for Current TV as a presenter I was from the beginning also a media artist. I recommend following your passion: technology has lowered so many barriers to entry making it so much easier for storytellers to make it happen for themselves.

What makes a great TED talk Some can go very wrong. How do you come up with your topic and why do you think your association with the organisation has been so successful

I was lucky enough to create a video on ‘radical openness’ to open up the 2012 TEDGlobal conference. I love that organisation. It has created an ideal media platform to promote big ideas which is wonderful. It seems that speakers who combine great storytelling along with passion and expertise resonate more strongly amongst audiences. Passion is the best compass in my mind.

What do you have planned after Brain Games Do you have a career trajectory or do interesting projects come to you

I hope to always work on projects that promote big ideas. I am passionate about content that informs and inspires – always with the goal to expand our minds. This approach could lead to feature documentaries or more short form projects or TV projects.

Drawing on your future studies background what have we as humans got to look forward to Please feel free to draw on your philosophy studies too or do the two not meld well

I believe that exponential technologies will continue to expand our horizons as we have all the world’s information at our fingertips actualizing the human imagination. Future breakthroughs in biotechnology will revolutionise healthcare and radically extend our lives. It is just the beginning!

Brain Games premieres with two back-to-back episodes tonight at 9pm on National Geographic Abu Dhabi.
