Investors eye acquiring Reebok from Adidas for USD2.2b

(MENAFN) According to the Wall Street Journal, a group of investors from Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi expressed its interest to acquire the Reebok brand from Adidas for USD2.2 billion, AFP reported.

Some sources close to the matter said that Jynwel Capital's chief executive was the person behind the bid, suggesting that the sport equipment-maker would fare better as an independent brand.

Adidas bought Reebook in 2006 for USD3.82 billion, hoping to pile pressure on US rival Nike. But the German giant still has seen its share of the US market keep shrinking as it has been a tough year for Adidas.

The company decreased its annual net profit forecasts to about USD 829.14 million. That was much lower than previous guidance for between USD 1.05-USD1.18 billion.
