Pakistan's Qadri denies deal on cards to end sit-in


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Cleric Dr Tahirul Qadri chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has debunked reports that he has struck a deal with the government to end sit-in in Islamabad.

Before departing for Lahore where he was due to address supporters later at night Qadri clarified on Sunday that he will not strike a deal with the government but will avenge the deaths of his supporters killed during the Model Town clashes on June 17.



Media reports on Saturday had said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given go ahead to his ministers to resume talks with Qadri to isolate PTI chief Imran Khan in the ongoing sit-in. According to these reports Qadri had given positive signals he was ready for a settlement.



“Today is a day of triumph and we will hold a historic rally in Lahore” he said while addressing his supporters in Islamabad on the http://i.dawn.com/primary/2014/10/5442b3a5590ee.jpgr=1276385492 66th day of his ongoing sit-in against the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government.



“I am going to Lahore to ask for Qisas (revenge) for those killed on June 17” he said referring to the Model Town clashes between his supporters and police which left at least 14 people dead. “The blood of martyrs will bring a revolution and those responsible will be hanged” he claimed.
