18 Taliban Militants Killed in Afghan Clearing Operations


(MENAFN- QNA) At least 18 Taliban militants were killed following joint military operations by Afghan national security forces in the past 24 yours.

The Afghan Ministry of Interior said Monday that the operations were conducted in Laghman, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Khost and Paktiya provinces.

A statement released by the ministry said the operations were jointly conducted by Afghan national police, Afghan national army and Afghan intelligence – national directorate of security (NDS) operatives, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).

Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds ammunition, the statement added.

The ministry said, during the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused 22 different types of IEDs from Ghazni, Kandahar and Laghman provinces.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the reports so far.
