At Least 5 Killed in Afghan Commandos Operation


(MENAFN- QNA) At least five suspected kidnappers were killed following an operation by Afghan National Army (ANA) commando forces in western Herat province.

Gen. Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Defense, said the kidnappers were killed during a search operation by Afghan commando forces.

He said two local businessmen were also freed following the operation and 40 different weapons were confiscated, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).

In the meantime, Gen. Azimi said at least 14 militants were killed and 11 others were wounded during military operations by Afghan national army in five different provinces in the past 24 hours.

Gen. Azimi further added Afghan soldiers also confiscated 23 rounds of improvised explosive device (IED) during the operations.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.
