(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Qurum City Centre and Muscat City Centre along with Majid al Futtaim are hosting an arts initiative named Art of C to boost the art scene in Oman.
The event which opened on Sunday at the Qurum City Centre will be held till October 30 during which both city centres will host workshops where 44 C-shaped canvases will be transformed into inspiring works of art. The shape C is a tribute to the City Centre logo while the number 44 denotes the upcoming 44th National Day.
At the launch H H Aliya bint Thuwaini bin Shihab al Said inscribed the first message to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said on a blank canvas for the National Day.
Maryam al Zadjali president of the Omani Society for Fine Arts said 'Qurum City Centre and Muscat City Centre have partnered with the Omani Society for Fine Arts for Art of C.
'This collaboration will unite seasoned Omani artists with emerging talent from the community with the shared vision of nurturing creativity and celebrating arts.'
Art of C is bringing together talents of seven renowned Omani artists - Anwar Sonia Abdul Majeed Karooh Mohammed Shaml Ali Khalfan al Marshoodi Iftikhar al Badawi Salim Sakhi and Maryam al Zadjali.
Under their mentorship are 35 aspiring artists from the community including art students children and housewives whose creative works of art were selected by the Omani Society for Fine Arts through an open submission process earlier this month.
The artworks will be open for public viewing till October 27 at Qurum City Centre and Muscat City Centre.
At the closing ceremony on October 30 a jury from the Omani Society for Fine Arts will reward the three most creative pieces by emerging artists.
The pieces will be judged on the techniques used by the artist interpretation and creativity.
