Iran urges regional countries to unite against terrorism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Iranian President Hassan Rohani called on regional countries Sunday to unite in the fight against terrorist groups in the region to ultimately eradicate them.

"The terrorist groups should be driven out of the region and to prevent them from practicing criminal acts. Unity of all regional countries is essential," Rohani said during a meeting with Lebanese Defense Minister Sameer Muqbel.

He reiterated Iran's support for people in the region including the Syrian, Lebanese and Iraqi people, who were fighting terrorism, official media reported.

Rohani praised the resistance of the Lebanese people against the Israeli aggression and occupation.

Muqbel said the terrorist and rejectionist groups were new enemies on top of the Israelis.

He said all Lebanese people and parties were standing behind their army in the face of terrorist groups.
