WHO regional meeting begins in Tunis


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The 61 session of the World Health Organization's Regional Committee for the Eastern Meditarranean began in Tunis on Sunday with representatives from 22 regional countries attending including Kuwait's Health Minister Dr. Ali Al-Obaidi.

The Kuwaiti delegation will be addressing the conference about the eradication of polio, achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the regional strategy to confronting AIDS, as well as other global health-related matters.

The delegation will also highlight the implementation of the UN General Assembly's (UNGA) political declaration about prevention of non-communicable diseases and boosting health information systems.

There will be meetings on the sidelines of the conference that will discuss non-communicable diseases, AIDS, TB and Malaria.
