Karem Abu-Salem Crossing Opened after 3-Day Closure

(MENAFN- QNA) The Israeli occupation authorities, opened this morning, Karem Abu-Salem, the only commercial outlet for the Gaza Strip, for the movement of goods, after a three-day closure because of the Jewish holidays.

Director of the Palestinian side of Karem Abu-Salem crossing Munir Al-Ghalban said in a press statement that the crossing was opened today, adding that some 240 trucks loaded with aid stuffs and materials for the commercial and industrial sectors will enter the strip. Limited amounts of cooking gas and diesel for the only power plant in the Gaza Strip will also be pumped, Al-Ghalban said.

He noted that Palestinian private companies operating on the Israeli side did not inform them until now that building materials will be delivered to the private sector in Gaza. However, building materials will be delivered for projects the UN relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).

The first shipments of building material (approximately 75 truck) started arriving in the Gaza Strip last Tuesday through the same crossing after the occupation authorities allowed their delivery, after seven years of prohibition, in accordance with the tripartite agreement between Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations for the supply of construction materials to rebuild what had been destroyed by the recent Israeli war.
