LG, Samsung plan to sell 81.5 million LCD TVs in 2014


(MENAFN) The South Korean tech giant Samsung Electrics Co. and LG electronics Inc. planned to sell a combined 81.5 million liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs this year, taking up around 38% of the global market, QNA reported.

The company also eyes shipping 48 million units of LCD TVs this year worldwide, an increase of 11% from the previous year.

LG, Samsung's domestic competing, is expected to sell 33.5 million LCD TVs in the global market in 2015, up 15% from a year earlier.

The combined market share of Samsung and LG, the top two global sellers of LCD TVs, is likely to reach 37.5% this year, compared with 34.8% last year.
