US General Electric posts higher earnings in Q3


(MENAFN) General Electric posted higher earnings for the July-September period, while global economic growth remains solid with the US especially strong, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The US industrial giant GE said its net income surged by 10.8 percent, reaching USD3.5 billion behind especially strong increases in its aviation and oil and gas divisions.

GE posted revenue gains in five of seven industrial segments, with the transportation segment registering a 10 percent increase, while oil and gas were up 27.2 percent and aviation up 15.9 percent.

GE Chief Executive said the company has seen a mix of conditions in different markets, adding "it fits a pattern that we have seen the last couple of years, and the underlying activity is still reasonably healthy, but not universal."
