Nissan starts operations at its USD813m plant


(MENAFN) Japanese automaker Nissan said operations at its Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company plant, which is a joint venture with its Chinese counterpart Dongfeng Motors Corporation, Xinhua reported.

The USD813 million worth investment plant has an annual production capacity of 150,000 automobiles and will focus on the production of SUVs, deputy general manager of the joint venture said.

The plant, which started construction in June 2012, will double its annual production capacity when the second phase of construction is completed, which was not scheduled yet.

Dongfeng Nissan has another three plants in Guangzhou, Xiangyang and Zhengzhou.The company's four factories are expected to produce more than 1.5 million vehicles annually by 2015.
