Qatar- Expo depicts life and times of the Prophet


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) An exhibition to showcase the life of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and his mission to humanity was launched yesterday at Ezdan mall in Al Gharrafa.

Engineer Ibrahim Fakhro announced the launch of the exhibition entitled "Our Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH)" at a press conference yesterday at the mall in the presence of representatives from Al Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center (a formerly called Fanar), Al Asmakh Corporation and Ezdan Mall, Al Gharrafa.

The official opening of the exhibition will be on Monday and will continue until November 16. It will be opened by Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani and Ibrahim Hassan Al Asmakh, President of Regency Group Holdings, in the presence of Sheikh Yousuf Al Qaradawi who will give a speech about the life of the Prophet.

The aim of the exhibition is to introduce the humble life style of the Prophet throughout his mission in the seventh century and the difficulties he faced, to the visitors of the mall from different social segments, ages and nationalities using different languages.

The idea and implementation of the exhibition came from Engineer Ibrahim Yusef Fakhro with support from Al Asmakh Charity and Ezdan Mall in Gharrafa which will host the exhibition for one month in collaboration with Al Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre.

The exhibition will be open every day from 10am to 10pm.

At the press conference Engineer Fakhro lauded Ezdan mall for providing the space for the whole month and for the encouragement and support he got from the Al Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre and Al Asmakh Charity. He called for organising similar exhibitions in other places was important to reach more people and contribute to raise awareness about the prophet's life.

The exhibition will host 10 to 15 scholars to talk about the life of the Prophet in different languages including Arabic, English, Urdu, French and Tegalog, said Fahad Ahmed Al Mohammed from Al Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre. He added that there will be brochures and handouts to be distributed to the visitors.

The mall is honoured to host this important event as the Prophet's life is important and it's a duty of every Muslim to defend and introduce his life to other people, said Malik Qaiser Al Awan, General Manager of Ezdan Mall. He said that the exhibition is expected to attract a large number of visitors due to the convenient location of the Ezdan Mall, which is reachable for students, families and different segments of the society.

The exhibition will showcase major phases of the Prophet's life including the Prophethood in Madina Al Munawara and this will represent all components of the town including the Prophet's mosque, market, and horse racing field and other natural features such as the mountains surrounding the town, valleys and trenches built for defending the town and Islam during those early days.

It will also show the route taken by the prophet's camel and where it knelt (the house of Abu Ayob Al Ansari who hosted the Prophet when he first arrived in Madina).

Another focus of the exhibition will be the mosque of the Prophet at the beginning of the Islamic Dawa when Qebla was directed towards Al Aqsa mosque in Al Quds (in Jerusalem) and the change made in the direction of Qebla to Makkah. The exhibition also shows the room where the Prophet lived.

It will also show the house of the Prophet. All these exhibits are made of construction materials used at the time of the Prophet to reflect the actual lifestyle of the people at that time.

The exhibition will also showcase eighteen portraits demonstrating the developments of the prophetic stages, major historical events, the death of the prophet, his life style with his wives, a portrait for the prophet's miracles with elaborations in both English and Arabic, and other relevant features and events.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, there will be documentary films about major events in Makkah and its main features, a film about the early stage of his mission to the migration to Makkah or Hejra, a film that shows the construction of the Prophet's mosque by the Prophet himself and his companions, and the materials used, its measurements and ways of construction.

There will also be films about the battles of Badr and Al Khandak (the trench battle), and another film about the death of the Prophet, his grave and the grave of his companion Abu Baker Al Siddik.
