School in India that locked up kid in kennel reopens


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Parents of a section of the students and local people staged protests outside the school against the government decision.

The school closed by Kerala the government following complaints that a five-year-old boy was locked in a dog kennel by his teacher for talking to another child in class was reopened on Thursday amidst protests.



The Jawahar English Medium School at Kudappanakunnu here could resume classes as Director of Public Instruction’s order shutting down the school was stayed by General Education Secretary on an appeal filed by the school management.



Parents of a section of the students and local people staged protests outside the school against the government decision. They squatted in front of the school shouting slogans against the school and the government. Police were deployed to face the protestors.



A senior Education Department official said that the district administration which was entrusted with the task of providing alternative facilities to students had recommended the reopening of the school.



District Collector Biju Prabhakar gave such a recommendation as parents of 103 out of 123 students wanted their children to continue in the school till the completion of the current year.
