Soldier shot dead in North Lebanon


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))  Unidentified gunmen opened fire at a Lebanese Army bus in northern region of Akkar early on Friday killing a soldier, the official National News Agency reported.

Shortly after the deadly shooting that occurred in the town of Al-Bireh, local residents blocked roads in protest of the fatal attack and to demonstrate solidarity with the military. Forensic experts examined scene of the incident.

A soldier died in an identical incident in the north a week ago.
The army is currently involved in carrying out special precautions in northern and eastern Lebanon in face of hit-and-run attacks by gunmen, perceived to be affiliated to Syrian opposition groups
