Iraqi Crisis Displaces 1.8 Million Refugees, UNAMI Says


(MENAFN- QNA) The UN Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) said Thursday that there were 5.2 million Iraqis in need of urgent aid.

UNAMI released a statement to the press today saying that there were 1.8 million refugees displaced since January as a result of violence in the country. Some 1.5 million of the displaced refugees moved to neighboring countries. There were an additional 1.7 million Iraqis who were not displaced but remain in crisis stricken areas.
