Arab League Delegation to Monitor Tunisia's Parliamentary Vote

(MENAFN- QNA) An Arab League delegation comprising 20 observers will head Monday to Tunisia to watch the legislative elections, due to be held at the end of October.

The delegation will be headed by the Arab League's assistant secretary general and legal affairs chief Wagih Hanafi and features observers from ten Arab nationalities but none from Tunisia in order to ensure neutrality, Alaa El Zohairy, head of the elections department at the pan-Arab organization, said.

He added that the delegation will cover the majority of Tunisian provinces while the Arab League's center in Tunisia will offer some logistic assistance to the monitoring team.

Besides the parliamentary elections, Tunisians will vote to choose a new president next month in what would mark the end of the country's transitional phase.
