Bahrain Welcomes Decision of UK House of Commons & Swedish Government Statement on Palestine


(MENAFN- QNA) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain has welcomed the decision of the British House of Commons to recognize Palestine as an independent state, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

The decision passed after an overwhelming vote in favor of a motion calling for the British government to recognize the state of Palestine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also welcomed the statement by the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden on recognizing Palestine as an independent state.

The Ministry commended these important steps that will support the efforts of ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 4th of June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its Capital.

The Ministry called on all states to take the same steps regarding the recognition of Palestine as an independent state, in order to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people and enhance security, stability and peace in the Middle East.
