(MENAFN) According to new data from the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), Saudi Arabia's petrochemical industry employed 83.700 people in 2013, which accounts for 56 percent of the GCC's total petrochemical workforce, while services which support the Saudi's petrochemicals industry resulted in the creation of an estimated 335,000 of direct and indirect jobs in the Kingdom, Saudi Gazette reported.
The research also said that Saudi Arabia registered having the second highest nationalization rate in the region's petrochemical industry, after Bahrain, with around 63 percent of the industry's employees in the Kingdom being Saudi nationals compared to a 56 percent GCC average.
"Over the last few years, Saudi Arabia's petrochemical industry has developed a solid base of skilled human capital, which is a crucial component in ensuring the long term development of the industry," Secretary General, Gulf Petrochemicals & Chemicals Association said.
Meanwhile, the Gulf's petrochemical industry employed 148.900 people and indirectly created an estimated 446.800 additional jobs in 2013 across the GCC, resulting in the manufacture of over a hundred billion dollar worth of products.
