(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The second session of the second Gulf Media Forum discussed on Wednesday women working in the media with participation from a number of female figures from across the six Gulf states.
Participants in the session agreed unanimously on the existence of a number of difficulties facing women in the Gulf, namely prominent positions in the workforce which are still dominated mostly by men.
Saudi Arabian Maysa Al-Amoudi said that women are still facing challenges in leadership positions, particularly in audio-visual media, noting that Saudi women are working alongside men to achieve all of their rights in spite of all the obstacles they encounter.
She added that women went into the Saudi media with desire and determination, depending mainly on their cultural and language abilities but lack the ability to break in due to constant changes in media from the technical and intellectual aspect.
For her part, Bahraini Sawsan Al-Ahaer praised the pioneering role of Gulf women in media work, after breaking the barriers in this area, namely Kuwaiti women media personalities like Amal Abdullah, Amina Al-Sharrah, and Aneesa Jaffar.
