Qatar- Angry Birds mobile expo wow thousands

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) A week after it opened its doors at Katara, Angry Birds Universe exhibition has impressed thousands of visitors with its immersive and interactive games which combine learning and fun.

The travelling exhibition by US-based Imagine Exhibitions, together with Rovio and JRA, is the first of its kind in Doha which opened during Eid Al Adha and continues until the month-end.

Set on a 1,500sqm area, the expo comprises geographical areas, including Bamboo Forest, Cobalt Plateaus, The City, Cave Studio, Crown Mountains and Space, providing visitors with interactive games that drive in basic educational concepts under the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) principle.

"The exhibition is perfect for children. My son has enjoyed and learned a lot from games he played," said Therese, who came to the expo yesterday with his seven-year-old.

She said the visit to the expo was an excellent bonding opportunity for her and her son, resulting to learning.

Among the concepts visitors can learn are friction, mass, velocity, simple machines and mechanical advantages, gravity, orbits, space, rockets, natural history of birds, animation, drawing and music.

"I think what makes the exhibition effective is the use of Angry Birds as a springboard to introducing and inculcating principles from science to engineering to arts in learners. We know everybody - children and adults - loves Angry Birds which motivates them to learn the concepts," said Therese, a teacher.

Entertaining as they are, the games and activities touch on the cognitive and psychomotor domains of learning.

Mashael Shahby, Project Manager of Eid Activities, Qatar Tourism Authority, said the expo was one of the major offerings by QTA during Eid holidays and beyond as part of its strategy to make Qatar a major destination during Eid holidays. He invited everyone to come and discover what the exhibition has to offer for the family and all fans of the Angry Birds brand. 'Angry Birds Universe: The Art & Science Behind a Global Phenomenon' was launched in Dubai recently and Doha is the second stop of the expo scheduled to go around the world in the next five years.

It is open from Sunday to Thursday (9am-1pm and 4pm-10pm) and Fridays and Saturdays (1pm-11pm).

Ticket is priced QR50 and the show is free for children under five.
