Scottsdale AZ (PRBuzz) October 14 2014 What an amazing night it was for Marcelo Motta and the entire Prime BJJ gym as they walked off with a ton of hardware at the IBJJF World Championships in California last weekend.
The official medal count was three gold one silver and four bronze.
That’s what you call “making a statement” by the local Colorado gym.
Prime BJJ is a small family owned gym that now boasts three World Champions in Marcelo Motta Tim Varallo and Adam Wheeler.
Professor Motta not only won his weight class but also won the gold in the Absolute Division which is open to all weight classes. As a lightweight he beat a legend in the sport – ultra-heavyweight Renato “Babalu” Sobrel a veteran in everything from Pride to the UFC.
Marcelo was completely dominant in his competition preventing his opponents from scoring even a single point against him.
