Qatar Gas starts project to maintain production level till 2021

(MENAFN) Qatar Gas announced it has successfully started its Plateau Maintenance Project (PMP), which aims to ensure the company's production capacity is maintained at 10 million tons per annum of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in the future, QNA reported.

The project will involve drilling and recompleting offshore wells, resulting in the addition of new onshore facilities for sulfur handling as well as modifying existing LNG production trains 1, 2 and 3.

The Plateau Maintenance Project is expected to help in the company maintain its current capacity till at least 2021, as well as enabling it to continue to supply LNG safely and reliably to its customers.

"We added significant new onshore facilities to accommodate the increased volumes of feed gas and Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) from new wells. The additional quantities of H2S will be treated in the new onshore sulfur plant built as part of the project. The new sulfur plant is capable of treating over 1 billion cubic feet per day (BCFD) of offshore feed gas. Numerous new and upgraded compression and utility units were also added," Qatargas CEO said in a statement.
