QRC Provides Gaza Hospitals with Medical Supplies


(MENAFN- QNA) Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) Office in Gaza provided Gaza's hospitals with medicines, medical supplies and medical consumables worth QR 500,000, funded by Al Asmakh Charity Foundation.

The urgent support project to Gaza hospitals includes medical equipment for heart surgery, blood vessels and fourteen types of different medicines in quantities up to 600 medicines' pieces and packages that would contribute to treat hundreds of heart and blood vessels patients in the Gaza Strip.

Dr Akram Nassar, head of the QRC office in Gaza lauded Al Asmakh Charity Foundation's generous gesture of providing the entire amount of funding to QRC, saying the new health project will provide large amounts of necessary medical consumables for surgery, cardiac catheterization and blood vessels in Gaza's hospitals, which suffer from a severe shortage in this area, a matter which is prompting Palestinian Ministry of Health to transfer patients for treatment abroad.

QRC sent a team of three surgeons to Gaza to conduct a number of surgical operations in some Gaza hospitals over two weeks and brought a new batch of spare parts and equipment to stores of Coastal Municipalities Water Utility(CMWU ) in addition to car air filters , oils, clothes and shoes for sewage plants' workers in Gaza worth $33,000 out of the $ 1,040,000 total budget of the project costs, which is funded by the GCC countries for Gaza reconstruction under the supervision of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
