Oman's investments in telecom sector hit USD199.41m in 2013


(MENAFN) Oman's Investments in the telecom sector amounted to USD199.41 million in 2013, with areas of investment including fixed telephone, internet, and mobile communication services, Times of Oman reported.

The amount of investment has declined in comparison to the investments made in 2009 and 2010 due to the completion of the network's modernization projects implemented by the various operators.

In addition, the total telecom sector revenue from operators and resellers reached to around USD1.93 billion by the end of 2013, which is an increase of around USD126.90 million compared to 2012 revenue which was around USD1.83 billion.

Meanwhile, Oman's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) said that the number of mobile subscribers had increased to reach 5.617.426 subscriber in 2013, which is an increase of 6.4 percent compared to 5.277. 591 registered in 2012.
