Tokyo Stocks End Below 15,000 for 1st Time in 2 Months

(MENAFN- QNA) Tokyo stocks tumbled Tuesday, with the Nikkei stock index ending below the psychologically important 15,000 threshold for the first time in two months, as investor sentiment was impaired by recent major losses on Wall Street.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 364.04 points, or 2.38%, from Friday at 14,936.51, its worst finish since August 8. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 28.82 points, or 2.32%, to 1,214.27, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.

Decliners were led by air transport, precision machinery and automaker issues.
