(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The famed Hyderabadi cuisine including the globally-popular Hyderabadi biryani would soon be available in the Parliament canteen in New Delhi to tickle the palates of Indian lawmakers thanks to the initiative taken by Parliamentary Food Committee chairman A P Jithender Reddy.
Reddy who represents Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha constituency told Khaleej Times that besides Hyderabadi biryani other Deccani delicacies like mirchi ka salan (a chilli gravy dish) shahi ke Tukde (a rich dessert made with bread and other ingredients) qubani ka meetha (a dessert made with dried apricots) have been included in the Parliament canteen menu.
“The biryani made in the canteen is different and as soon as I took charge I decided to give my fellow Parliamentarians what they always craved for — authentic Hyderabadi biryani and other dishes from our state” he said.
The 60-year-old MP who describes himself as a foodie has already dispatched four cooks from the canteen to Nizam Club in Hyderabad where they are undergoing culinary training to come up with authentic Hyderabadi dishes. “I spoke to Nizam Club President E Rajender and tied up with him to train the cooks in Hyderabadi cuisine” he said.
Babus govt employees to sweat it out in offices
With the massive power shortage in Telangana turning into a crisis bureaucrats and government employees may soon have to sweat it out in their offices literally with chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seriously considering ban on use of air-conditioners and other high power consumption electrical appliances in government offices.
KCR as the chief minister is known has made no bones about the power crisis in the state and has made it clear that there was no solution to the problem in the immediate future. As part of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government’s energy saving efforts the chief minister has not only decided to ban air-conditioners but is also reportedly toying with the idea of changing government office timings. Government officials will have to work from 8am to 2pm without the lunch break if KCR who is now New Delhi to represent Telangana’s problems to the Centre implements his energy-saving measures.
Besides these measures the government will also launch a massive awareness campaign among the masses on the importance of energy conservation as also supply LED bulbs to domestic consumers at highly subsidised rates. The government is also planning to replace streetlights with LED bulbs in all the municipalities of the state.
“Even if half of the power consumers in the state switch off tube lights for just an hour daily it would mean conservation of 400MW of power” points out Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao who while admitting that the state was going through tough times now was equally positive about Telangana becoming a power-surplus state in three years time.
Netizens get free access to Internet
Netizens in 17 locations across Hyderabad got free access to high-speed Internet with the TRS government in partnership with Airtel launching Wi-Fi hotspots in these locations. The initiative is in line with the TRS administration’s aim to develop and project Hyderabad as a global smart city.
Information Technology and Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao who has been taking keen interest in developing Hyderabad further as an IT destination launched the “Internet for All” scheme. The Wi-Fi hotspots will provide users with 750MB of data per day at 4.2 MBPS speed for a three-month trial period. It will be available to all mobile users across service providers.
“This is only a pilot project to test the waters across these 17 locations before we actually extend full-fledged Wi-Fi hotspots connectivity to the entire city” Rao said.
Explaining the procedure Bharti Airtel CEO Venkatesh Vijayraghavan said: “Users must select the Wi-Fi network through their mobile devices in these locations to access this service. On selecting the public Wi-Fi a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to their mobile number. They can then latch on to the Wi-Fi after authentication of the password and enjoy Internet services of up to 750 MB per day per user.”-newskhaleejtimes.com
