Kuwait fencing team wins Bronze medal in Asia tourney in Philippines


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwaiti Fencing team won the Bronze medal in the Sabre category on Monday, in the U-23 Asian Fencing Championship, hosted by the Philippines and will continue until October 15th.

The fencers have succeeded in winning the medal despite fierce competition and high level performance by the participating teams, the Secretary of Kuwait Fencing Association and head of the delegation Thuwaini Al-Hajri told KUNA in a telephone interview.

Al-Hajri added that the medal was won by Yusuf Al-Shamlan, Abdullah Al-Shemali, Bandar Al-Shamlan, and Khaled Al-Shamlan after defeating the Indian team 45-20.

Al-Hajri praised fighting spirit shown by the players and their keenness to win in this Asian sport gathering, which involves more than 30 countries.

The Kuwaiti official noted that the association is looking forward to achieving more medals for the Kuwaiti team in the competition remaining days, especially in Foil and Epee weapon categories.

Al-Hajri also expressed best wishes for the players in their remaining matches.
