Qatar Rail discusses strategic direction


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatar Railways Company's (Qatar Rail) Leadership team discussed the company's corporate strategy, performance targets and a wide range of strategic initiatives it plans to undertake over the next 18 months in a town hall meeting. The meeting, held at La Cigale Hotel was attended by all Qatar Rail employees.

Opening the meeting, Abdulla Abdulaziz Al Subaie, Managing Director and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Qatar Rail said: "Since its inception, Qatar Rail has focused on delivering an extremely large and complex rail programme. We know that this is not a low-risk strategy, however we have been blessed with the resources that allow us to undertake a programme of this scale as part of our national vision 2030 and to set high objectives for ourselves". Qatar Rail would provide comfortable and environmentally friendly alternative means of transportation; savings in travel time; reduced congestion and road traffic; fewer traffic accidents; reduced pollution and better connectivity.

"We will achieve our goals through implementing effective project controls and governance, strong performance management, efficient and effective asset life cycle management and a discipline that promote organisation-wide culture of commitment and accountability," said Al Subaie.

The works are advancing as planned to achieve the target date for starting the first phase of Doha metro that involves three lines running by October 2019.

Saad Al Muhannadi, CEO of Qatar Rail also addressed employees.
