(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Renault Twizy, a 100 percent electric-powered two-passenger vehicle, will be among the new vehicles to be showcased at Milipol conference and exhibition 2014 next week.

This was revealed during a press event to sign a contract between the Ministry of Interior and Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana (SHM) Company, distributors of Nissan vehicles in Qatar, to be the diamond sponsor of the event on internal state security.

The 10th edition of the biennial event will be held under the patronage of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on October 20 to 22 at Doha Exhibition Centre.

According to Declan J McCluskey, General Manager Automotive, SHM, the Renault Twizy can be utilised by police, security and medical entities as an emergency response unit.

"The vehicle's dimensions will allow it to easily manoeuvre in crowded area and reach the required destination in a short time," he said.

The Twizy is ultra-compact and 2.32-metre long, 1.19-metre wide and 1.46-metre high.

It's frame and body offer occupants extra protection with its deformable structure, while the outboard position of the four wheels and the lateral beams on either side of the chassis provide protection in case of a side impact. The safety retention systems include a driver's airbag, a four-point safety belt at the front and a three-point one at the rear.

McCluskey said SHM Company has supported Qatar's military authorities and their subsidiaries and has in the past two years supplied 646 vehicles, including 281 Nissan Patrols and 365 vehicles - patrol pickups, Sentra, Altima and Civilians.

Hisham bin Saleh Al Mana, Chairman and CEO of SHM Company, said they were showcasing models of cars used by government entities such as Nissan Patrol, Patrol Pickups and Renault Twizy. "We are investing QR1.5m in our participation in the exhibition," he said.
