Chinese Defense Minister Hold Talks with his Australian Counterpart


(MENAFN- QNA) Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan held talks with his Australian counterpart David Johnston in Beijing on Monday.

Chang said bilateral military relations have maintained healthy and stable development since the two countries established a strategic partnership of mutual trust and benefit in 2013, China's News Agency (Xinhua) reported.

The two armed forces have maintained frequent high-level visits, bilateral strategic dialogues have functioned well and professional exchanges and cooperation between the two sides have also achieved positive results, said Chang.

China is willing to work with Australia to further deepen pragmatic exchanges and cooperation as well as push forward bilateral military ties, he said.

Johnston said Australia is expecting more exchanges and cooperation with China in the areas of maritime security, humanitarian rescue and disaster mitigation.
