Sharjah plans to introduce restrictions on winter campers

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Camping in rural and desert areas would only be allowed after obtaining permission from the municipality concerned.

With the winter season approaching the Sharjah Police and municipalities are planning to introduce new rules and regulations to curb public disturbance caused by campers in rural and desert areas in the emirate.

The authorities decided that camping in such areas would only be allowed after obtaining permission from the municipality concerned.

Speaking to Khaleej Times an officer of the Sharjah Police said the presence of a large number of tourists in such areas for camping during winter creates public disturbance by playing loud music and making unbearable noise.

The police held a meeting with Al Batayeh Municipality officials on Sunday to discuss the issues related to safety and security in the rural areas during the winter time. The two authorities discussed the expected complaints from the local residents regarding the disturbance created by campers and tourists.

The two departments agreed to introduce regulations and rules to ensure safety and minimise accidents. The officials at the meeting discussed mechanisms to provide permission for camping in these areas.
