Jordan, Germany sign USD18.13m water project deal


(MENAFN) The Jordanian Ministry of Water and Irrigation announced it has signed an agreement with the German Bank of Reconstruction for USD 18.31 projects which are planned for the improvement of the water situation, reduce wastage and increase area under irrigation, QNA reported.

The Ministry said that the projects are divided into two segments and that they are part of the initiative implemented by the Ministry to enhance the water condition across the Kingdom.

The first part of these projects, which will be funded by the Gulf grant, are set in the Balqa and Madaba governorates are expected to reduce waste by 20 percent as well as decreasing energy consumption and are set to be finished within 13 months.

While the second project, which includes rehabilitating the water networks in Mahes district and Balqa, will be funded by the German Bank of Reconstruction.
