Algeria plans to produce shale gas by 2022


(MENAFN) Algeria's state energy company Sonatrach announced that the country is planning to start producing shale gas in 2022, if the plant the company is currently working on is finished on time, QNA reported.

The company said that if everything goes under the construction plan, Algeria may be able to achieve a production level of about 10 billion m3 of shale gas by 2025.

"Sonatrach is actively preparing to use techniques to access hydrocarbons in compact geological formations as shale," Algerian Minister of Energy said.
