Saudi- Ministry denies affiliation with terror website

(MENAFN- Arab News) The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has denied any affiliation with a notorious terror site that condones foreign fighting and seeks funds for terror groups to buy weapons.

Allegations that the ministry urged support for the so-called 'jihadis' abroad through the site were made in a local daily.

This site also discourages Saudis from studying abroad through foreign scholarship programs saying graduating from abroad is un-Islamic.

'This site is not followed or owned by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs' a source at the ministry told Arab News.

'On the contrary the ministry advises Saudi youth against joining terrorists and reiterates that Islam is a religion of moderation' he said. 'The Ministry of Islamic Affairs strictly implements the Kingdom's policy of fighting all forms of terrorism.'

The ministry has banned preachers from canvassing support for such groups and has pledged to continue monitoring mosques to ensure that preachers stick to religious and social topics.
