Oman's L&T wins USD102m contract for Samayil hub

(MENAFN) The Oman subsidiary of Indian engineering and construction giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced it has won a contract to implement the infrastructure for an industrial park at Samayil in Dakhiliyah Governorate in Oman, which is expected to be valued at around USD102.1 million, Oman Observer reported.

Under the contract, L&T is going to handle the provision of infrastructure and utilities across two sites reserved by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), which owns the project, for the establishment of the new industrial park, with Area 1 of the project expected to spread across 548 hectares, while Area 2 is smaller at 205 hectares.

PEIE, which is currently expanding network of manufacturing hubs to support Oman's non-oil light and medium manufacturing output, said that Samayil is set to be the seventh industrial park PEIE is currently working on.

Other than managing hubs in Rusayl, Sohar, Al Buraimi, Raysut, Sur and Nizwa, PEIE also manages the Information Technology Park, known as Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) at Rusayl, and Al Mazyounah Free Trade Zone in Dhofar Governorate, with more than USD13 billion being gathered for investments in these projects and employing 40.000 people.
