US Drone Strike Leaves 4 Militants Dead in Pakistan

(MENAFN- QNA) A US drone strike left at least four suspected Pakistani Taliban militants dead in North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan.

According to Pakistani security officials, the airstrike was carried out late Saturday night in Shawal Tehsil area.

The officials further added that a local Pakistani Taliban commander identified as Mustafa was also among those killed following the airstrike, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).

The drone targeted a vehicle with two missiels in Maraga area of Shawal Tehsil, the officials said.

This comes as at least four suspeted militants were killed and several others were injured following a drone strike along the Durand Line earlier on Saturday.

Taliban and other al Qaeda-linked groups are known to have strongholds in Khyber and North Waziristan tribal regions of Pakistan.

US drone strikes are widely unpopular in Pakistan, where many consider them a violation of the country's sovereignty that also killed civilians.

But American officials believe they are a vital weapon in the war against militants.

According to reports, at least 29 people have been killed following a series of drone strikes in tribal regions of Pakistan this week.
