Roadside Bomb Blast Kills 5 Afghan Soldiers


(MENAFN- QNA) At least five Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were martyred following roadside bomb explosion, defense officials said Sunday.

Gen. Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Afghan Ministry of Defense, said the ANA soldiers were martyred in the past 24 hours.

He did not disclose further information regarding the exact location where the incidnet took place, according to the Afghan (Khaama Press).

In the meantime, Gen. Azimi said at least 17 militants were killed and several others were injured following operations in the past 24 hours.

Gen. Azimi said 12 clearing operations are currently being conducted by Afghan national security forces in seven different provinces.

He said Afghan security forces also confiscated 31 rounds of improvised explosive device (IED) during the same operations.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the reports so far.
