Kurds halt IS thrust in Kobane


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Turkish soldiers on a tank and Kurdish people look at the Syrian town of Ain Al Arab, known as Kobane by the Kurds, from a hill at the Turkish-Syrian border, in the southeastern Turkish village of Mursitpinar yesterday. Kurdish fighters halted a thrust by Islamic State group jihadists towards the heart of Kobane, after the UN warned thousands of civilians risked massacre.
